What is The SVRS
Collaborative™?
Advanced Training. Trusted Community. Collaborative Care.
The SVRS Collaborative™ brings together the disciplines of voice pedagogy and speech-language pathology to prepare professionals for the complex, collaborative work of singing voice rehabilitation.
We offer rigorous training for dedicated voice teachers and speech-language pathologists, bridging voice pedagogy, voice science, rehabilitation, and clinical practice. Our comprehensive curriculum contains synchronous and asynchronous learning, and is designed for those who want to deepen their clinical and pedagogical knowledge developing the specialized skills required to support singers experiencing vocal injury, dysfunction, or limitations in performance. Extensive one to one mentorship is a defining feature of our program, allowing for targeted, individualized guidance tailored to the needs of each individual.
Beyond completing a course of study, our registrants become part of a growing dynamic, collaborative professional community committed to shared standards, continued development, and excellence in the care of singers.
Why The SVRS Collaborative™?
The SVRS Collaborative™ was created to bridge the gap between disciplines while preserving the distinct expertise and professional scope of each participant.
Rather than asking voice teachers to become clinicians, or speech-language pathologists to become singing teachers, our program helps each professional develop the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to singing voice rehabilitation from within their own discipline.
Participants receive advanced, tailored education while developing a deeper understanding of the complementary expertise each profession brings to singing voice rehabilitation. The program combines foundational knowledge with individualized guidance, observation, mentorship, case-based learning, and meaningful application.
Two Professional Pathways.
One Collaborative Standard.
Singing voice rehabilitation requires expertise from more than one discipline. The SVRS Collaborative™ honors the distinct preparation and scope of voice teachers and speech-language pathologists while helping each understand how to contribute effectively within a collaborative voice-care model.
The Voice Teacher Pathway: Voice teachers deepen their understanding of vocal function, voice science, pathology, rehabilitation principles, medical terminology, professional boundaries, and communication with clinical providers.
The Speech-Language Pathologist Pathway: Speech-language pathologists develop greater expertise in singing voice function, vocal style, musical and performance demands, singing voice assessment, and the pedagogical considerations involved in guiding singers return to full artistic participation.
Participants remain grounded in their own professional discipline while learning to communicate and collaborate across professional boundaries.
Building the Future of Singing Voice Rehabilitation
The field of singing voice rehabilitation continues to grow, but educational pathways, terminology, and expectations remain inconsistent.
The SVRS Collaborative™ is working to establish a trusted model built upon rigorous preparation, interdisciplinary respect, professional accountability, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
Our purpose is not simply to provide a quick means to add an arbitrary SVRS title to a list of credentials.
