Singing Voice Rehabilitation Specialist (SVRS), describes professionals whose work involves the rehabilitation of the injured singing voice.
The term SVRS has been introduced and defined by Ragan and Rosenberg, (In Press, JOS, 2026) and is intended to clarify the scope of this work within the vocology professions. These authors address the rationale for including the word rehabilitation seeking to establish more consistent expectations for the knowledge, training, preparation, collaboration, and professional boundaries associated with the SVRS role.
Because singing voice rehabilitation is not currently governed by a single licensing or regulatory body, professionals frequently use the term with varying levels of education and experience often diluting the degree of training and expertise required to do this collaborative work. To ensure the integrity of the SVRS designation, we have created The SVRS Collaborative™ to provide a clear and verifiable distinction for the dedicated professionals who have completed our comprehensive program and remain connected to our professional community.
